Endodontics Care

If you’ve been told that you need to have a root canal, your dentist may refer you to an endodontist. But what if you could have your root canal completed by the same dentist that you trust for your routine smile care, thanks to access to the same equipment used in endodontics offices? When you absolutely need emergency dental treatment, wouldn’t you rather have it provided by a dentist you know and trust? Dentistry by Design provides the same high-quality care during general dentistry services and when providing the emergency care Richardson, Texas residents can rely upon.

At Dentistry By Design, Dr. Tiner has nearly two decades of experience and over 200 hours of training in the field of endodontics. We use the same advanced technology and equipment used in some of our area’s top endodontics facilities.

What Does That Mean for Our Patients?

When you see us for your procedure, you can expect a more efficient process that’s as comfortable as possible. That means less soreness, a quicker appointment, and a drastically reduced chance of ever needing further restorative dentistry treatments later on. You can expect the same level of attention to detail and high-quality care during an endodontic procedure. This way, you can have supreme confidence in the diagnoses you receive, treatment protocols that are recommended, and treatments you receive.

Do You Need a Root Canal?

Endodontics concerns the study and treatment of what is known as the dental pulp. This dental pulp is the inner bundle of nerves at the root of your teeth. This area and the nerves that run through are not only incredibly sensitive but also especially important for your oral health. Damage to this area or infection in this area requires prompt care. You may need to have a tooth treated endodontically if you have experienced:

  • Trauma, such as an athletic injury or car wreck
  • Large cavities that have spread into the nerve
  • Severe pain or sensitivity on a specific tooth
  • A cracked tooth
  • An abscess along the gum lines

First, Dr. Tiner will examine the tooth and have an x-ray ordered to evaluate the health of the areas around the tip of the root. If there is damage to the root of the tooth from trauma, our team will assess the need for a root canal or other procedure. Emergency procedures will be necessary to preserve the health of that tooth as well as prevent any complications.

Additionally, a root canal may be necessary in the case of an infection or abscess around the root of the tooth. If the x-ray shows a dark circle around the root, this is indicative of a current or previous abscess. We sometimes place you on an antibiotic to clear up extensive inflammation before performing the root canal. But medication alone isn’t going to prevent the infection from recurring. A root canal is often the safest option to ensure your long-term oral health. Once your oral health needs have been met, you can begin a range of cosmetic dentistry services that will give you back confidence in your smile.

During endodontic treatment, we use microscopic equipment to access and thoroughly clean the inner nerve channels of the tooth, before medicating and sealing them off. After a root canal, we often recommend the placement of a crown over the tooth for long-term preservation. We can also assess your total oral health needs and recommend further treatment with any of our dental services.

With our same day CEREC crowns, Dr. Tiner is able to complete your root canals in just one day! Call us to schedule an evaluation. Our team is dedicated to providing total oral health solutions at our comfortable, state-of-the-art facility.
