Endodontic Care Saves Smiles

Graphic of a root canal procedureIf you’ve been told that you need to have a root canal, your dentist may have referred you to an endodontist. But what if you could have your root canal completed by the same dentist that you trust for your routine smile care, thanks to access to the same equipment used in endodontic offices?

At Dentistry by Design, Dr. Tiner has nearly two decades of experience and over 200 hours of training in the field of endodontics. We use the same advanced technology and equipment used in some of our area’s top endodontic facilities.

What Does That Mean for Our Patients?

When you see us for your procedure, you can expect a more efficient process that’s as comfortable as possible. That means less soreness, a quicker appointment, and a drastically reduced chance of ever needing a re-treatment later on.

Do You Need a Root Canal?

You may need to have a tooth treated endodontically if you have experienced:

  • Trauma, such as an athletic injury or car wreck
  • Large cavities that have spread into the nerve
  • Severe pain or sensitivity on a specific tooth
  • A cracked tooth
  • An abscess along the gumlines

First, Dr. Tiner will examine the tooth and have an x-ray ordered to evaluate the health of the areas around the tip of the root. If the x-ray shows a dark circle around the root, this is indicative of a current or previous abscess. We may sometimes want to place you on an antibiotic to clear up extensive inflammation before the root canal is performed. But medication alone isn’t going to prevent the infection from recurring.

After a root canal, we will also recommend having a crown placed over the tooth for long-term preservation.

With our same day CEREC crowns, Dr. Tiner is able to complete your root canal and permanent restoration in just one day! Call us to schedule an evaluation.
